Why the racers should wait for many laps before being black flagged? Why were they still allowed to take the spare car?

What always used to amuse me is how Murray Walker never had any idea what any of the black flags were for, even though he had watched the incident that led to it, and would be expected to make a connection.
What I found even more confusing was that James Hunt, usually switched on when it came to these things, also had no idea why Mansell was being black flagged at Estoril in 1989. I find it bemusing that neither he nor Murray Walker knew that you can't reverse in the pit lane under your own power.

Why do these drivers get black flagged halfway through the race for starting from the pits after the start? i can somewhat understand why they arent allowed to start from the pits or whatever but why do the officials wait until halfway through the race to give out the black flag????

I completely forgot about the Nigel flag. What was his punishment? Because later on Schumacher would do the same thing and get a 2 race ban but he didn't take someone out in the process.

So what I’ve learned is the stewards majority of the time are buzz kills and want to punish anyone who doesn’t adhere to their “strict rules and formality’s”. Should just let people race, explains why F1 seems so boring nowadays compared to 20-40 years ago.

That's how you know F1 is not a serious motorsport and is nothing more than a popularity contest that is rigged. When they let you get your spare car and race most of the race before disqualifying you for doing too well you know it's rigged. Why anyone watches it baffles me. No sport should have officials interfering with the results unless a team fails pre or post race inspections, everything else is just race strategy.

Senna did not got black flagged because of spare car! What really happened is that during his pit stop, the engine went off, and they manually turned back on, which is illegal. That is why he was disqualified! Sad, but true...
